Hellmuth & Johnson, PLLC today announced that effective January 1, 2012, Joel A. Hilgendorf and Anthony T. Smith were named partners of the law firm. With the additions of Hilgendorf and Smith, Hellmuth & Johnson now has 21 partners and 15 associates, continuing its focus on growth and excellence.
Hilgendorf is an attorney with the firm in both the Real Estate and Community Association Practice Groups. His clients include banks, developers, commercial and residential property owners, and condominium and townhome associations. He has been certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association as a Board Certified Real Property Specialist, a designation held by a select few Minnesota attorneys. He is licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts in Minnesota. He obtained his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana. Hilgendorf has been named to the Minnesota Rising Stars list 3 times (2008, 2010 & 2011); only 2.5% of young attorneys in the state of Minnesota are chosen each year.
Smith focuses his practice on the representation of commercial and residential property owners in the following areas, construction defect litigation, construction contract disputes and insurance coverage and valuation disputes. Licensed to practice in Minnesota state and Federal courts, Smith routinely counsels and represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation, including preliminary claim evaluation and investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial. Smith obtained his J.D. from the University of Minnesota. Well-respected by his clients and peers, he was named a “Rising Star” every year from 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
