Our History
Looking to take the practice of law to a higher level of service, expertise and focus, Chad Johnson and David Hellmuth joined forces to create a premier law firm. With an entrepreneurial spirit and a short list of clients, Hellmuth & Johnson opened its doors in 1994 - with partner Blake Nelson joining the firm in 1997.

Hellmuth & Johnson quickly grew from a two-person law firm to a legal force with more than 70 employees practicing in a broad range of areas to serve businesses and individuals. We provide legal representation in the areas of business and corporate law, real estate and development, and construction law, and litigation and appeals. Specific areas of focus include community associations, medical malpractice and estate planning.

Hellmuth & Johnson has since grown into one of Minnesota's Top Fifty* largest law firms, positioning us to provide a full suite of services to clients without sacrificing our original commitment to providing responsive and affordable representation. Our clients span the spectrum from a first-time home buyer to community associations, construction companies and international corporations.
