Nancy Polomis talks what to do when it comes to dog doo-doo in May/June issue of Common Ground
Common Ground, the national magazine of Community Associations Institute (CAI), quoted Hellmuth & Johnson attorney Nancy T. Polomis in its story titled “The DNA Scoop” in the May/June issue.
Polomis was quoted throughout the article, which explores DNA testing as one of the latest methods to keep common areas free of dog waste and avoid groundwater contamination. Select quotes include:
“Apartment owners can more effectively impose the testing requirement as a condition of tenancy. It’s more difficult for associations to impose – and enforce – such a requirement.”
“In associations with annual dog fees, dog owners are often the best at policing the matter, since no dog owner wants to see the annual fee increase because of bad behavior of others. If they see someone not picking up after a pet, owners often call out the violator, shaming him or her into picking up the waste.”
