Hellmuth & Johnson elects Michael Howard as a Partner
Hellmuth & Johnson is pleased to announce that Michael Howard, formerly an associate, has been elected as a partner of the firm, effective July 16, 2016. Hellmuth & Johnson now has 30 partners, 22 associates, and nearly 60 attorneys nationwide, continuing the firm’s focus on growth and excellence.
Michael handles mergers and acquisitions and advises business clients as general outside counsel in connection with real estate, finance, corporate and other business matters. Michael’s extensive background in business, management, technology, consulting and real estate allows him to meet the needs of businesses in various stages of growth, from startup/formation and rapid expansion, to exit transactions/strategies, and, if necessary, restructuring, bankruptcy or dissolution. He has presented and lectured on negotiation, bankruptcy, business formation matters, and sales of assets.
His clients range in size from the single freelance coder/developer to large publicly traded companies and include a variety of industries. To name a few: manufacturing, implement and equipment sales, printing, retail, construction, hospitality, restaurant/food service, food science, agriculture, trucking, transportation, import/export, distribution, trades, professional services, real estate, advertising, marketing, franchise, cosmetics, education, health, medical, medical device, development, web-based services, software, SaaS, mobile-application development and other technology-based and service industries. Michael believes that businesses should maintain an entrepreneurial mindset in order to remain competitive, while practicing "preventive law" to avoid damaging enterprise value and incurring major unexpected liabilities.
Michael received his law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School where he currently serves as a member of the Development Committee. Michael also completed the International Business Law program through Cornell Law School in China, focusing on international business transactions. He has earned extensive designations in the real estate and business arenas, including the Credential of Readiness Certificate through Harvard Business School. Licensed to practice law in the state and federal courts of Minnesota, Michael is a member of the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota State Bar Association.
