Erik F. Hansen is an attorney with the firm and chair of the Appellate practice Group, where his clients range from Fortune 500 corporations to individual homeowners. Specifically, his practice includes:

• Appellate law
• General civil litigation

An appellate attorney and litigator known for his concise and direct style of advocacy, Erik practices in state and federal courts at all levels. He engages in a broad-based appellate practice, typically handling appeals of complex commercial matters and real property disputes. Additionally, he has handled appeals in the area of employment law, family law and criminal law.

In addition to his appellate work, Erik maintains an active civil litigation practice focusing on complex commercial disputes and real property matters. With his experience at all levels of the legal process, he knows the value of thoroughly preparing a case, whether it is in the initial stage of an investigation, discovery and depositions, at trial or on appeal.

Erik sits on the Minnesota Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Rules of Civil Appellate Procedure, and is an active member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, where he currently serves on the Membership Committee (Chair, 2004-2007) and Publications Committee. He is also a Legal Writing Instructor at the University of Minnesota Law School for the 2007-2008 academic year.

In 2006, 2007 and 2008, he has been named to the Rising Star list by Minnesota Law & Politics, and also was named a 2006 “Up & Coming Attorney” by Minnesota Lawyer.

Erik obtained his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota-Morris, where he majored in political science and European studies.
