Klay C. (KC) Ahrens is a partner with the firm and chair of the Insurance Law Group. KC's clients include insurance companies and a variety of businesses involved in litigation matters. He concentrates his practice in the following areas:

• Insurance defense and appeals
• Commercial litigation
• Construction litigation

KC's practice is focused on the successful resolution of all litigation matters, with an emphasis on insurance-related claims and disputes. He has extensive experience aggressively defending automobile accident related claims, general liability matters such as coverage disputes, and consumer claims and class action lawsuits brought under the Truth-In-Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, Fair Credit Reporting Act, Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Minnesota Motor Vehicle Retail Installment Sales Act and Consumer Fraud Act.

He also represents business entities in mediations, arbitrations, and district court actions including construction and design defects, delay and disruption, and water intrusion issues.

KC is admitted to practice law in the state courts of Minnesota, U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota, and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit. He is a member of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar Associations. He has been a frequent CLE lecturer on insurance law, including Minnesota No-Fault and UM/UIM.

In 2005, KC was named a "Rising Star" in the legal profession by Minnesota Law & Politics. He is BV® Peer Review Rated from Martindale-Hubbell.

KC received his J.D., cum laude, from the Hamline University School of Law, and completed his undergraduate work at Concordia College, graduating cum laude with a B.A. in English and Communications.
