Katheryn A. Andresen
Kate Andresen is a partner with the firm and a member of the firm's Information Technology and eCommerce Practice Group. In her 15 years of practice, she has represented both start-up technology companies, as well as Fortune 50 corporate clients. In addition to assisting her clients with their technology licensing and other transactional needs, Kate has focused her practice on representation of regulated entities subject to Federal privacy regulations such as HIPAA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act.

Kate was a systems engineer, designing and coding software applications, prior to law school. Kate is admitted to practice in the State and Federal courts of Minnesota, and the 8th Circuit. She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, with a Master's degree in International Relations from Boston University and graduate studies in International Law from McGeorge School of Law (studies in Salzburg, Austria). She has been a long-time member of the Minnesota State Bar and its Computer & Technology Law Section and is a former chair of that section. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Science & Technology Section, as well as the Information Technology Law Association (an international professional association of lawyers practicing technology around the world.)
She is a frequent author and lecturer, both nationally and internationally, on technology law subjects. She is the author and editor of The Law and Business of Computer Software published by Thomson West Publishing in 2007 with annual updates since. Kate is a former linguist (including Serbo-Croatian, German, French and Spanish) and worked in military intelligence for seven years both in the military and as a civilian. She is a registered Minnesota Public Notary. Her publications include:
