Karl E. Robinson

Karl Robinson is a partner in Hellmuth & Johnson's litigation practice group. Karl has more than 10 years of experience representing businesses and individuals in many different types of disputes, including

• complex commercial and business litigation
• employment matters
• intellectual property litigation
• construction cases, and
• real estate disputes.

He has successfully represented clients in all stages of litigation, from pre-lawsuit investigation through trial and appeals. Karl's satisfied clients include

Karl's approach to the practice of law combines knowledge, experience and zealous advocacy with the ability to find practical, common sense solutions for clients. As a result, Karl has helped his clients successfully resolve disputes both in and out of the courtroom, including favorable settlements of disputes with other businesses, government regulators, and former employers and employees, as well as winning cases at trial and on appeal. Karl's approach to the practice of law is to work effectively and efficiently with his clients to obtain the best possible result in each matter. For example, Karl helped a client reach favorable settlements in multiple fraud cases brought throughout the country, while also negotiating positive resolutions of the client's disputes with government regulators, insurance companies, a trustee in bankruptcy and a former employer.

Karl has been repeatedly named to the Minnesota Rising StarsSM list of attorneys by Minnesota Law & Politics; only 2.5% of the young attorneys in the state are selected each year. Karl is active in the Minnesota State Bar Association, and he currently serves on the Governing Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association Appellate Practice Section. Karl also serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Eighth Circuit Bar Association. He has also presented at numerous continuing legal education seminars regarding appellate practice, and is a co-author of a chapter in the Eighth Circuit Appellate Practice Manual (2009) regarding professional responsibility and the appellate advocate.

Prior to joining Hellmuth & Johnson, Karl was an attorney with a large downtown Minneapolis law firm. Before that, Karl served as a law clerk to The Honorable David Harris of the Iowa Supreme Court and to The Honorable David Hansen of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Karl has also taught legal writing and appellate advocacy as an adjunct professor at William Mitchell College of Law.

Karl is licensed to practice law in State and Federal courts in Minnesota, the United States Supreme Court and in the United States Courts of Appeal for the 6th, 8th and 11th Circuits. He obtained his J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law, graduating with highest honors. Karl obtained his bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Iowa, majoring in finance and graduating with honors. He joined Hellmuth & Johnson in 2009.
