E. Curtis Roeder
Curt Roeder recently joined Hellmuth and Johnson in May of 2010. A former partner with another firm, Curt brings 22 years of litigation experience in the area of property law, fire litigation, construction litigation, and a significant trial history. Curt's practice includes representing individual homeowners, condominium associations and commercial entities who have contract issues, construction defects, soil and drainage issues and other related legal disputes. Curt has extensive experience with civil actions in federal and state courts, arbitrations, appraisals and informal dispute resolution requiring negotiation skills in a complex setting.

Curt has a strong background in construction litigation resulting from work involving water intrusion, design and planning, soils and drainage problems, and code compliance issues. His experience also includes a specialty in fire litigation, from initial evaluation, developing origin and cause of fires, appraisals of fire and property losses, litigation, settlements and trial. This includes extensive histories with the applicable fire codes, building codes, mechanical codes and working with the requisite specialists in each area. Curt has an extensive history with insurance policies, their exclusions and interpretations in Minnesota cases and beyond.
He has resolved hundreds of cases favorably in Minnesota, Wisconsin and throughout the upper Midwest. Curt's experience tracks representation literally from the date of the client's first need through suit, trial appeal or any other resolution best suited to the client. Examples include several successful verdicts and settlements in excess of one million dollars Involving product liability cases, complex fire litigation cases involving multiple products, and cases involving contractors with both commercial and homeowner interests. Curt is known as an aggressive litigator and is passionate about the practice and gaining the best possible result for the firm's clients.
Curt is a member of the Hennepin County and Minnesota State Bar Associations. He was a published author of the William Mitchell Law Review. Curt's varied practice includes appellate briefs and oral argument. Prior to joining Hellmuth and Johnson, Curt was a partner in a well-respected downtown firm; his addition to H&J now brings another seasoned trial lawyer to the firm.
