Anthony T. Smith

Anthony (“Tony”) T. Smith joined Hellmuth & Johnson in 2007 and quickly established himself as one of the firm’s preeminent trial lawyers.  Tony focuses his practice on the representation of commercial and residential property owners in the following areas:

·       Construction defect litigation;

·       Construction contract disputes; and

·       Insurance coverage and valuation disputes.

Licensed to practice in Minnesota state and Federal courts, his clients include commercial property owners, condominium and townhome associations, hotels, apartment complexes commercial business owners, nonprofit corporations, and individual homeowners.

Tony utilizes a focused litigation strategy built around aggressive expert investigation, information gathering, and trial preparation to maximize his clients’ likelihood of success.  He routinely counsels and represents clients in all aspects of civil litigation, including preliminary claim evaluation and investigation, discovery, motion practice, and trial.

Tony graduated summa cum laude from Hamline University with a B.A. in sociology in 1997, and obtained his J.D. from the University of Minnesota in 2001.  Well-respected by his clients and peers, he was named to the Minnesota Rising Stars^SM list by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine every year from 2007 to 2010; only 2.5% of young attorneys in the state are chosen each year.
